You don't know what you don't know...
Upon receiving our giant new waste collection bins from #yeg the city of Edmonton, I thought I would check up on my eco-literacy. Boy, was I in for a treat. I didn't realize how awful it was to chuck non-recyclables into the recycling, and I feel #ecoshame.
With this confession, I humbly invite you to come along with me as I learn more about truly being friendly to the Earth in this April #Earthmonth episode of "don't do what I did". Today we tackle recyling... My next adventure will be #composting.
Check out my friend Kathryn here who runs an impressive "zero waste" blog - something that might be unattainable in this age of super-careful sanitation, but most of which we can aspire to!
Cole's notes version below...
Summary point 1:
"Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!" - Reduce is first for a reason! Recycle is last for a reason! Be careful to sort your recycling properly if you must throw something out.
Summary point 2:
Some plastics are more harmful to our health than others. Be mindful of which you allow to heat up and which you use repeatedly, if any!
